CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Charlotte track and field squads registered a pair of first-place finishes at the Orange and Purple Winter Classic on Saturday in Clemson, S.C., to begin the 2010-11 track and field season well.

Senior Darius Law started his 2010-11 senior campaign. The All-American won the men's 500-meter dash with a time of 1:05.09. Freshman Chris Matthews joined Law with a sound performance in the race. Matthews ran a 1:05.66 to place third in the event. In the women's 500-meters, Kortnie Coleman clocked a time of 1:17.13 to take second.
